هر چند پیر و خسته‌دل و ناتوان شدم
هر گَه که یادِ رویِ تو کردم جوان شدم
***
شکرِ خدا که هر چه طلب کردم از خدا
بر مُنتهایِ همَّتِ خود کامران شدم
***
ای گُلبُن جوان بَرِ دولت بخور که من
در سایهٔ تو بلبلِ باغِ جهان شدم
***
اول ز تحت و فوقِ وجودم خبر نبود
در مکتبِ غمِ تو چُنین نکته‌دان شدم
***
قسمت حوالتم به خرابات می‌کند
هرچند کـ‌این‌چُنین شدم و آن‌چُنان شدم
***
آن روز بر دلم درِ معنی گشوده شد
کز ساکنانِ درگهِ پیرِ مغان شدم
***
در شاهراهِ دولتِ سرمد به تختِ بخت
با جامِ مِی به کامِ دلِ دوستان شدم
***
از آن زمان که فتنهٔ چشمت به من رسید
ایمن ز شرِّ فتنهٔ آخرزمان شدم
***
من پیرِ سال و ماه نیَم، یار بی‌وفاست
بر من چو عمر می‌گذرد پیر از آن شدم

دوشم نوید داد عنایت که حافظا
بازآ که من به عفوِ گناهت ضمان شدم

English Translation:
Though I’ve grown old, weary-hearted, and weak
Whenever I remember your face, I become young.
Thank God, whatever I asked of God
I have become successful beyond my highest hopes.
O young rose, enjoy the bounties of fortune, for I
Have become the nightingale of the world's garden in your shade.
At first, I knew nothing of existence above or below
In the school of your sorrow, I became so knowledgeable.
Fate is sending me to the tavern
Though I have become this way and that.
That day, the door of meaning opened in my heart
When I became one of the inhabitants of the old magicians' threshold.
On the royal road of eternal fortune and on the throne of good luck
With a cup of wine to the satisfaction of my friends, I became.
Since the day the turmoil of your eye reached me
I have been safe from the evil of the end of time.
I am not an old man of years and months, an unfaithful friend
As my life passes, I have become old for that reason.
Last night, grace gave me good tidings: “O Hafez,
Come back, for I have become your guarantor for the forgiveness of your sin.”
