English Translation for Hekayat

One of the former kings was negligent in the governance of his kingdom and treated his army harshly. Consequently, a formidable enemy arose, and everyone turned their backs on him.

When they withhold treasure from the army, They hesitate to draw their swords.

One of those who betrayed me had once been a friend. I reproached him, saying, “It is base and ungrateful to turn away from an old master at the slightest change of fortune and to disregard years of blessings.” He replied, “If you excuse me with kindness, it may be justified, for my horse was without fodder in this incident, and my saddle was pawned. A king who is stingy with gold towards his soldiers cannot expect loyalty in battle.”

Give gold to the soldier so he will risk his life, If you do not give him gold, he will risk his life elsewhere.

When the brave warrior is full, he fights fiercely, But an empty-bellied one fights by fleeing.
