One of the kings, along with a few of his close companions, was hunting in the winter and found themselves far from any habitation as night fell. They saw a peasant’s house.
The king said: “Let us spend the night there to avoid the cold.”
One of the ministers said: “It is not fitting for the king to seek refuge in a peasant’s house. Let us set up a tent here and make a fire.”
The peasant heard about this. He prepared some provisions, brought them forward, kissed the ground, and said: “The high status of the king has not descended, but rather, the status of the peasant has been elevated.”
The king found his words pleasing and moved to his house for the night. In the morning, he bestowed gifts and blessings upon him. It was heard that the peasant walked a few steps beside the king’s stirrup, saying:
"The king’s grandeur and majesty were not diminished,
By his attention to the peasant’s humble abode.
The peasant’s cap reached the sun,
When a king like you cast his shadow over it."
