English Translation for Hekayat
Someone brought good news to Anushirvan the Just, saying, “I heard that God, the Almighty, has taken away your enemy.”
He replied, “Did you hear that He has left me?”
If an enemy dies, there is no cause for joy
For our own lives are not eternal either.
متن حکایت
کسی مژده پیش انوشیروانِ عادل آورد. گفت: شنیدم که فلان دشمنِ تو را خدای ،عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ، برداشت.
گفت: هیچ شنیدی که مرا بگذاشت؟
اگر بمُرد عَدو، جایِ شادمانی نیست
که زندگانیِ ما نیز جاودانی نیست
