English Translation for Hekayat

Whoever contends with the great, spills their own blood.

You consider yourself to be great,

But they say a cross-eyed person sees two.

Soon you will see a broken forehead,

If you play head-to-head with a ram.

Saadi's wisdom here highlights the dangers of overestimating oneself and underestimating the power of others. It serves as a caution against engaging in conflicts with those who are more powerful, as it can lead to one's own downfall. His timeless teachings continue to offer valuable lessons in humility and prudence.
