English Translation for Hekayat

Musk is recognized by its scent, not by what the perfumer claims.

The wise are like a perfumer's box, silent yet full of art, while the ignorant are like a warrior's drum, loud and empty.

In the midst of the ignorant, the learned,

As the truthful have said, are like a witness among the blind,

Or a scripture in the house of heretics.

Saadi's wisdom here highlights the true worth and authenticity that come from one's inherent qualities and actions, rather than mere claims. It emphasizes the value of quiet wisdom and skill over loud but empty noise. His timeless insights continue to offer valuable lessons on the nature of true knowledge and the importance of inner substance over outward show.
