English Translation for Hekayat

Life is sustained for a moment, and the world exists between two nonexistences.

They sell religion for the world, but what do they buy with the price of Joseph?

Did I not command you, O children of Adam, not to worship Satan?

You broke the promise of a friend for the word of an enemy,

See who you severed ties with and whom you joined.

Saadi's wisdom here highlights the fleeting nature of life and the folly of prioritizing worldly gains over spiritual values. It serves as a reminder of the importance of remaining true to one's principles and commitments, rather than being swayed by deceit and superficial gains. Saadi's timeless insights continue to offer profound lessons on integrity, loyalty, and the value of spiritual wisdom.
