Hekayat 63 from Chapter 8 of Golestan of Saadi

English Translation for Hekayat
Whoever is not fed during their life, their name is not remembered when they die.
The pleasure of the grape is known by the widow, not the owner of the fruit.
Joseph the Truthful, peace be upon him, did not eat his fill during the famine in Egypt so that he would not forget the hungry.
One who lives in comfort and luxury,
How can he know the state of the hungry?
Only someone who has experienced hardship
Understands the plight of the destitute.
O you who ride swiftly on horseback, beware,
That the poor donkey driver is in water and mud.
Do not ask for fire from the poor neighbor's house,
For what passes through his window is the smoke of his heart.
