Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi was a Persian Muslim poet, an Islamic dervish and a Sufi mystic who lived in the 13th Century in Konya, a city of Ottoman Empire (Today's Turkey). Rumi was a religion teacher and a jurist until the age of 37, when he met Shams Tabrizi, a wandering dervish who became Rumi’s spiritual mentor and changed the course of his life. After the Shams's death, Rumi’s creativity exploded in poetry that was stunning in its scope and creativity.

He has been described as one of the most popular poets who ever lived, with widely translated poems into many world's languages and became the best-selling poet in the United States.
