Moses, peace be upon him, advised Qarun (Korah):
"Do good as God has done good to you."
But Qarun did not listen, and in the end, you have heard what became of him.
The one who sowed no good deeds with his gold and silver,
In the end, lost himself over that same gold and silver.
If you wish to enjoy the blessings of both this world and the hereafter,
Show generosity to others, just as God has shown generosity to you.
The Arabs say:
"Give without reminding others of your favor, for its benefit will return to you."
The tree of generosity, wherever it takes root,
Grows so tall its branches reach beyond the heavens.
If you hope to reap its fruit,
Do not place a saw on its trunk with expectations.
Be thankful to God for granting you success in doing good deeds,
Through His grace and bounty, He has not left you idle.
Do not consider it a favor to serve the king,
Instead, recognize the favor of the king allowing you to serve.
